Shingle cladding systems are an increasingly popular way to give a building a distinctive, high-impact facade. Produced from small interlocking sections of metal, each shingle sits into the next so that the fixings are concealed once installed — the result is a clean, faceted surface with no visible fasteners and a striking play of light and shadow across the elevation. METRAC manufacture shingles in a 450mm diamond format with a 25mm return to each edge, formed in-house to a consistent, precise profile.

METRAC shingles are manufactured as standard in powder coated aluminium to QUALICOAT certification across the full RAL range, and are also available in pre-coated aluminium where a factory coil finish is preferred. Solid aluminium is inherently non-combustible, achieving A1 classification under EN 13501-1, or A2-s1,d0 once powder coated — meeting UK regulations for external wall surfaces on higher-risk buildings. The faceted geometry suits both contemporary and heritage-influenced schemes, and the concealed-fix design keeps the visual surface uninterrupted.

Shingles are installed onto a helping hand bracket support system, which carries the shingles off the substrate and allows for ventilation and tolerance behind the facade. METRAC do not manufacture the helping hand system but can supply it alongside the shingles where required, providing a single point of supply for the facade build-up.
