The soffit is one of the most visible details on a building from ground level — the underside of an eaves, canopy or overhang — and at METRAC it is treated as an architectural fabrication, not a lightweight off-the-shelf plank. Fabricated from thick-gauge aluminium, typically 1.5–2mm, METRAC soffit planks deliver a notably flatter, more rigid face than thin roll-formed profiles, resisting the oil-canning and deformation that can affect lighter material and giving a crisp, premium finish across the underside.
Soffit systems can be supplied via spec drawings, or METRAC can conduct a site visit to propose a dessign to suit. Soffits typically come in three designs — Tray, Plank and Interlock — each producing sleek, smooth lines to finish off soffit, eaves and cladding areas. The Plank design is secret-fix, with no visible fixings once installed. The Interlock design offers the same secret-fix appearance with a more secure connection between each component, suited to larger spans or more exposed locations. The Tray design provides a flush, panelised finish. The thicker gauge allows greater unsupported spans and a flatter plane than restricted-thickness alternatives.
Planks are manufactured in aluminium and powder coated to QUALICOAT certification across the full RAL range, with anodised and mill finishes also available. METRAC offer drawing review as standard and can carry out site visits to confirm dimensions and details ahead of manufacture.
